Originating in Durham, North Carolina in 2007, this Grammy-nominiated American folk band led by singer/songwriter MC Taylor and is best known for seamlessly weaving soulful stories with rootsy melodies and heartfelt lyrics, perfectly capturing the essence of Americana music. On Sunday, August 25th Circles Around The Sun will make their Ivy Ballroom debut. Circles Around The Sun is a first-of-its-kind band that has trail-blazed the instrumental cosmic disco space for nearly a decade, shapeshifting through several iterations. Not just spiritually but actually and tangibly linked to Grateful Dead history, the band’s music shares shelf space with post-rock, psych-rock, jazz-funk, and good old fashioned psychedelia, while their recorded output has included collaborations with such diverse luminaries as Joe Russo, Billy Strings and Mikaela Davis. The Surf Hotel is honored to present Boot Juice on The LAWN Tuesday, July 9th! Boot Juice hails from the Hills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California. Their sound shifts effortlessly between driving bluegrass and americana into cosmic rock’n’roll and swing. They deliver three part vocal harmonies and dynamic instrumental arrangements with a sultry dose of blues and soul leaving their audience little choice but to shake it down on the dance floor. The Surf Hotel is honored to present legendary turntablist Cut Chemist who will close out Paddlefest 2024 in the Ivy Ballroom on Saturday, May 25th. Cut Chemist has been recording and performing for nearly 30 years. He started his journey into djing at age 11 and by the age of 21, Cut became a founding member of both the rap group Jurassic 5 and the Grammy award winning Latin funk outfit, Ozomatli. Denver-based artist, DJ Matt Cassidy will open the evening so we can promise a full night of heart-pumping rythms and beats you won't want to miss.
