The Meadows Public Design Charrette
join us for a collaborative creative Community work session May 20th-25th.
You’re invited to bring ideas and contribute to a Public Design Charrette at the Surf Hotel hosted by South Main with town planners and neighborhood designers Dover, Kohl & Partners. This community event will be focused on creating a vision for a walkable, mixed-use neighborhood with public parks, trails and agriculture.
What is The meadows?
The Meadows is privately owned land consisting of 277 acres located at 15284 County Road 350 in Buena Vista. You may have attended a wedding, fundraiser, or music event such as Campout For The Cause or Renewal Festival with Billy Strings.
What is a public charrette?
A Public Design Charrette is a rapid, intensive, and creative work session for a design team to achieve an optimal and informed design for the future of an area. The Charrette is product oriented. Public Charrettes bring all stakeholders to the table over a short period of time to work intensively with the design team to reach consensus over the future of an area.
Why Should You Attend?
Participating in this Charrette will give you a chance to express your vision for The Meadows. Your participation will make the difference between a good plan and a great plan. Community input is essential.

KICK-OFF EVENT & HANDS ON DESIGN SESSION

Join us for an informative presentation on smart growth, traditional town planning and community development. Following the presentation, work alongside your neighbors and share ideas you have for The Meadows! This is a family-friendly event - bring your kids!
OPEN PLANNING STUDIO
Sunday, May 21 to Wednesday, May 24 9:00am - 6:00pm
Stop by the studio to talk with the design team and provide input as the plans evolves. This will be a unique opportunity to provide feedback as the initial plan ideas are being developed.
OPEN HOUSE
Monday, May 22 | 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Check-in on the plan and see the progress real time. See first hand how the design is created and be part of the process. This is an informal opportunity to ask questions, discuss ideas and better understand the outcome.
WORK IN PROGRESS PRESENTATION
Thursday, May 25 | 6:00pm - 8:00pm
See all of the work completed during the week at the “wrap-up” presentation.
